-----Do Music Right-----

March 2011: Working full time now. Busy and fun.

December 2010 2010: Finished 7 songs horn arranging for artist Michael Hershman with Kenny G guitarist and musical director John Raymond producing. Recorded with the amazing Rich Cole on saxes and had a great time arranging horns for a very well done CD! Produced and engineered overdubs for rock band with guitar hooks, lead vocals and background vocals arranging and producing. 4 song EP that should sound great when mixed by someone else. Scary times can occur for bands when lots of hard work put in and circumstances change not in your producing control, but that is normal and can be a part of making real records. Lessons learned for bands. Do what you say and say what you do! Amen.

November 2010: Drum edits on Protools 9 (!!) and completed guitar tracking. I record drums, then edit them, then get guitars super tight before I add bass (Thank you Jerry Finn for that process) Used ceramic and alniko cabs combined on distortion guitars with vintage C61, EV 666R and Beyer 500 ribbon mics all lined up for phase clarity and used a DI for possible editing later. Used both vintage Gibson GA 40 and Silvertone on clean guitars each recorded with vintage 7156s lined up for phase clarity. All mics thru API pres. Tones good.

Recorded first two horn arrangements I did (for Michael Hershman CD with Kenny G musical director John Raymond producing) with sax and jazz master Rich Cole playing alto, tenor and bari. Added trombone, edited and shipped off files to producer. More songs to do!

Mixing songs for Seth and hip hip artist Libretto. Cool!...and PHAT.

October 2010: Pre-production for Seattle rock band with songwriting editing for commercial music form and worked on click track and drum parts playing. He had a looong way to go with meter but after working closely with him it got much better. Workable.

Recorded rock band drums at Bobby Lang's. Thanx Paul and Nate and Bobbeee!

Mixed 8 song CD by Italian artist. Really good alt rock songwriter.

September: Horn Arranging pre-production on 7 songs for Michael Hershman CD with Kenny G musical director John Raymond producing.

Pre-production for EP. Songwriting, musicianship, budgeting, strategies. All that good stuff to do upfront to Do Music Right. Part of my gig to make sure.

August 2010: Vacation!

July 2010: Mixed 7 song CD "Farko Collective". Amazing players!! Farko also plays with Michael Shrieve of "Santana" fame.

June 2010: Mixed Hip Hip EP for "Dawud Raamah". Dude can SANG! Awesome rig (Quad Dual Core Mac Pro) with power for Protools plugins. Great sounding room with Dynaudio monitors, which I love. Awesome mixing there!

4 song EP for Bellingham band: Guitars; Spent productive and long days. Used API mic pre's and good mics (Vintage C 60 condenser, EV 666R dynamic and Beyerdynamic ribbon 500 all on cab lined up for phase clarity), and all clocked by Apogee 800 192s and then slaved to Lucid Clock Distribution so everything locked digitally. Sounds really good.

Distorted guitars played an ESP Eclipse (w/ EMG 81s on the neck and EMG 60s on the neck) to a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Head (w/ AT 88 power tubes, GZ 34 rectifier tubes and custom preamp settings) out to a 2 X 12 open back cab with Vintage 30's.

Clean tones used vintage amps: single 12 Valco/Silvertone and a Gibson GA 40 together. Stunningly beautiful combo.

4 song EP Bass; Recorded final bass tracks to edited drums. Used a Mesa M 2000 Head (through the tube side) to an Ampeg Classic 8 X 10 SVT. Tracked with DI from head to API pre's originally (for monitoring performance through the speakers) then regenerated that to his cab with three mics on it. Huge sounding.

June 2010: 4 song EP Drums for Bellinghman band; Beat Detectived the drums. Originally recorded with scratch bass, guitar and vocal tracks with Garey Shelton at Shelton Productions. Garey has amazing gear. Great guy.

May 2010: Starting 4 song EP. Went to Bham and did preproduction at their rehearsal space to be tighter. Changed forms of their songs to make it more airplay friendly. Super tight now. They rehearsed those changes for a week, and then went into the studio to focus on drums and makin' that stick as step 1. Very happy with drums tones, and they killed it.

Next up, drum editing, and then bass and guitars.
